Opening to the Light Within

As we approach the Winter Solstice on December 21st, the longest night of the year, and prepare for holidays and festivities with friends and family I want to offer a guided visualization for accessing the Light Within. It will help keep you centered in the Light of your Heart and open to the inner wisdom and warmth of you Spirit.

Winter Solstice, also called Yule, marks the point in time when the Light begins to return. The days start getting longer and night shorter until Summer Solstice, when we have the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The old Pagan religions prior to Christianity celebrated the Solstices and Equinox and the cross quarter points, of Imbolc(Feb 2), Beltane(May 1), Lughnasadh(Aug 2), and Samhain(Oct 31), as the major holy days(holidays).

It’s tempting this time of the year for some of us to go dark. I did that last year. I chose to blank out most of December last year by binging on The Punisher and Daredevil while drinking too much wine and eating any form of carb I could get my hands on. It was my first Christmas after my divorce and my mom had died 6 months prior to our separation. I felt very alone and had no desire to reach out to anybody for fear of dragging them down. (That’s one of those things I’m still working on. Asking for help when I need it.) I felt like I was being sucked into a grainy, dark pit of quicksand that I couldn’t get out of. It was a tough season. After I finally pulled myself out of it, I vowed to never binge on Netflix again. I’ve been largely successful about that. I cancelled my membership(again). It’s like quitting coffee. I’m really good at quitting. I can do it over and over again. But I digress…

Here is my little gift to you. A guided visualization to open to your own inner radiance.
